Sometimes all you need is a little inspiration—even if it comes to you through a shower curtain in World Market.
Since my three children (31F, 28M, 25M) have flown the coop, I’ve been slowly refreshing their rooms/bathrooms to reflect their mature lives. As I redid their rooms, something I prioritized was creating a space where they look forward to coming home to. A place that’s comfortable, fresh, and safe.
The boys’ “old” bathroom had a western theme: wild west wallpaper, dark wood accents, and a denim shower curtain. I had been stuck for a while on how to put more life into the space and make it brighter, and that’s when it hit me (poked me?)—a cactus shower curtain in World Market. It was bright, airy, full of life, and was coming home with me.
From there I added new tile, a fresh coat of sage green paint, and some new prints. These things helped modernize the bathroom and give it new life! But… it lacked comfortability. To make the room feel more homey, I added some family photos of the boys and their partners, plants, and fresh towels.
A great way to spruce up your bathroom on a tight budget is artwork, linens, and a new shower curtain. If your budget allows, you can repaint!
Pro tip: Think about the times you were a guest at someone's house. What are some things you loved, and what are some things you wish they had to make you more comfortable? I added a small vanity mirror (similar ones linked here and here) so my daughter-in-law could use it to get ready!
